Reviewed in Canada on October 9, 2018 Color Name: BlackSize : Large (8-12 Shoe) Verified Purchase Great socks. Especially at the price. I actually bought two pairs from a different store to test them. After trying them out at work (construction) for three days decided should buy more. I originally thought only for hiking but since I'm on my feet 8 hours a day in boots they help a lot. I didn't find my feet to sweat as much as other socks and didn't get any of the blisters I tend to get when my feet sweat too much. I'll probably be ordering another 3 pack soon too have the extras. Definitely worth it. I've tried the other higher end ones from smartwool and didn't find the $28 a pair justifiable as that much better. Compared to the $11 a pair for these. Added info, wear them with Royer work boots and Salomon quest 4d GTX hiking boots. Feet didn't feel hot in either. Although the weather hasn't been extremely hot (averaging 24-28C) I don't think they'd be overly hot in the summer but might want a lighter option. Depending on preference. Reviewed in Canada on January 24, 2021 Color Name: OliveSize : Large (8-12 Shoe) Verified Purchase I really tried to like these socks as I prefer to Buy Canadian. But as soon as I put them on I noticed how rough they felt and how itchy they were. I admit, I am spoiled with my Darn Tough socks and them being 3x as expensive but what a difference. Night and day. When I turned these inside out, it revealed strongly protruding seam stitches along both sides of the sock and along the toes. The Darn Tough socks don't have protrusions at all. Heck, even my cheapo Kirkland Merino socks have non-protruding seams and feel way more comfortable and soft. I guess I'll have to buy American - at least when it comes to performance socks. It's a shame J.B. can't come up with better quality. Returned them. Reviewed in Canada on February 13, 2018 Color Name: BlackSize : Large (8-12 Shoe) Verified Purchase The fit is exceptional, these are not "tube" socks that you feet need to 'stretch'. They are sewn flat just like the shape of your feet (mine are 9-1/2). There are no tight points, feels so natural. Only used in winter for indoor work and hiking thus far (well below freezing), in either case, even with sweaty feet, they hold warmth and don't feel soggy. I would call them a medium weight sock, but in a pinch could easily wear two socks for added warmth. The nicest surprise was in the insides, they have a nice lofty quilt (see pictures) that makes them feel soft and probably helps with ventilation. They are MADE in CANADA. Spend a few extra bucks, you will love them. I ordered 6 pairs, will order more. 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Wool Socks I Have Ever Bought The fit is exceptional, these are not "tube" socks that you feet need to 'stretch'. Reviewed in Canada on December 5, 2014 Verified Purchase At the moment, I'm giving these socks five stars (I've only had them for a couple of weeks, so I can't testify as to their longevity yet!). I have been buying Smartwool socks for years, and found them wonderful, but VERY expensive, and also, some varieties of them (the phd ones and other thicker ones) seem to wear out very quickly. These Super-Wool socks already seem much more durable - not only do they contain the same merino wool content as Smartwool, but they fit in that gorgeous 'foot-hugging' way that the Smartwool ones manage so well: and...they're at least half the price! Three pairs for $30, where smartwool socks cost around $25 for one pair. These might be better - I'll follow up this review if they wear out too quickly, but for now, I'm rating them as better than Smartwool, and much much better value for money. Reviewed in Canada on October 29, 2020 Color Name: GreySize : Shoe Size: 5-9 Verified Purchase When new, these socks are great. They're thick and very comfortable. The knock is the longevity. I bought several pairs less than two years ago and they all have holes in them now. My wife and I walk very regularly (once or twice a day), but just causal walking around our neighborhood, not aggressive hiking or anything like that. Maybe this lifetime is normal for this type/material of sock but for the price I would have expected to get a few more years out of them. I've had cheapy pairs last much longer than these. Reviewed in Canada on December 7, 2018 Verified Purchase Too Thin for my needs of shoveling driveway and walking dog in cold climate Ottawa 2.0 out of 5 stars Super Wool Hiker GX Made in Canada - Not Thick or Warm Enough For Me Too Thin for my needs of shoveling driveway and walking dog in cold climate Ottawa Reviewed in Canada on October 26, 2020 Color Name: Solid BlackSize : Large (8-12 Shoe) Verified Purchase These are fantastic socks and my fourth set of three even though I bought my first set three years ago and they are holding out better than the boots that always wear out in the heel area. There is only one other brand that I purchase that holds out even close to as well, most sock brands disintegrate in the heel area in a quarter of the time. I hike fifteen km a day, every day, every season, so I can assure anyone interested that these socks are perfect for early to mid spring, fall, and winter. A little thick for summer use and tight fitting foot wear, they do seem like they are climate controlled and whisk moisture away yet retain their thermal properties. This review is not based on assumptions like others that I've read on here, it is based on heavy usage and my experience using them. Added plus, they are Canadian made eh! Definite five star product! Now, this might be because I wear them so often, and use them for activities that cause a great deal of friction; however, I have a suspicion that it's the way they're made...
I estimate these are Good for 0ºC = 32ºF depending on foot ware and age.
Would be fine for short duration or use in a winter boot
Had loose threads inside sock so quality and durability concerns
Worn Once in running shoes at 0 C and feet got cold.
Maybe the Icelandic -30 would be more suitable but my
Copper Sole Thermals and Quad Comfort Ultimate work socks
are much thicker and warmer after 3 years of use as shown in photos.
